San Bernardino Strait – a 500 MW power potential
The Philippines project developer H&WB chose SABELLA as a turbine supplier to harness the tidal stream resource of the San Bernardino Strait under three service contracts, for a total estimated tidal power capacity of 500 MW in the strait.
A first project is currently under development to feed electricity to Capul Island and its 15,000 inhabitants. The island has a current electrification rate of 60 % and is being powered by costly and polluting diesel generators.
This project falls within the development of the insular energy model FFI (“Fuel Free Island”).
